While appreciating the good word done by the IAF, it is important to keep in mind that the MiG-21 is a 65-year-old design and has an unprecedented crash rate that has taken the lives of at least 177 Indian pilots. Just after 10 am on February 27, 2019, the Pakistan Air Force deployed "a large strike package" of modern F-16 Falcons, Chinese made JF-17s and some vintage Mirage-5 attack jets to avenge India's bombing of terror sanctuaries in Balakot, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The PAF's targets were Indian military installations - primarily the brigade headquarters in Bhimber Gali, Jammu, minutes from the Line of Control. The Indian Air Force scrambled six MiG-21s from its frontline air base in Srinagar to intercept the Pakistani fighters; Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's fighter was among these six aircraft. After Chinook, Comes Apache: Indian Air Force To Get First Delivery Of Boeing’s Attack Helicopter By July

United States defence manufacturing giant Boeing will be delivering the first of 22 AH-64E Apache twin-turboshaft attack helicopters to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by July, a senior company official said on Thursday (21 February), reports.. "We are on plan to deliver the first of 22 Apache starting July. This will give significant combat capabilities (to the air force)," David Koopersmith, vice president and general manager, vertical lift, Boeing Defense, Space and Security was quoted in the report as saying. He added that the Apache helicopters being procured by India are likely to be delivered in batches. The Indian government had placed  an order with Boeing for 22 AH-64 E Apache attack and 15 CH-47 F Chinook heavy-lift helicopters in a $3 billion deal that was signed in September 2015. Pulwama attack mastermind Abdul Rasheed Ghazi killed by security forces in Kashmir

In a big breakthrough, security forces on Monday gunned down top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Abdul Rasheed Ghazi alias Kamran, in a 12-hour-long encounter with multiple JeM terrorists in Pulwama area. Ghazi was a Pakistani national and the brain behind the Pulwama attack. Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar has said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country but India shouldn't take Pakistan’s desire for peace as its weakness. According to a handout, the Punjab governor said if India tried to attack Pakistan, the whole nation would get united, stand with Pak Army and give befitting response to India. Pakistan is not a weak country and Pakistan will not be afraid of the shallow Indian threats. “We condemn the attack on Indian army and also want the perpetrators should be held accountable,” he added. LCH at striking distance from being inducted in large numbers - Limited Series Production Initiated

The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) is at striking distance from being inducted into the armed forces. The designers and test crew at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (LTD) vouch for the LCH's might, with four prototypes having completed the pre-induction trials as mandated by the users—the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Army. During a recent visit to the Rotary Wing Research and Design Centre (RWRDC) of HAL, Onmanorama was briefed by the officials about the future flightpath of the combat helicopter programme. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) had cleared the proposal to induct an initial batch of 15 LCHs. Notwithstanding the final orders to formally come, HAL had gone ahead and began the process of manufacturing the limited series production (LSP) platforms. Of the 15 LSPs, 10 are for the IAF and the remaining five for the Indian Army. There’s an additional projection of 65 LCHs for the IAF and 97 for the Indian Army.
